Peaceful Moments
We twist and turn,
Running, hiding, searching, confused.
We fight, argue,
Negotiate, consider, question, feel sure.
We see an unclear face in the broken mirror,
A magical dragon from our dreams.
Then peace arrives quietly
Like distant thunder.
One breath and then another,
Mind’s mysteries released.
The battle is set aside,
Windows thrown open to the morning sun
Shadows are cast by the empty remnants
The discarded and left behind memories.
Empty rooms tell the story,
Empty arms can’t fill in deep blanks.
Only you can wrap yourself around this,
And take a real real response.
So we go from here to the next moment,
With courage and a little confidence.
